Duracell Solar Power Bank

Duracell Solar Battery Australia, Price, Warranty, and Significant Details

In Australia, home energy storage is growing rapidly. Businesses like Duracell solar battery successfully launched home battery products using their experience in the solar PV industry. One of the most well-known battery brands, Duracell, has just entered the market.

In order to keep your home functioning in the event of a power loss, the Duracell Power Center is a new home battery system for storing and using solar energy and backing up essential appliances. It can either be linked with a new solar installation or added to residences that already have solar panels.

How does the Duracell Solar Battery works?

A Power Control System (PCS) and a battery module are the two major components of the modular Power Center energy storage system. The PCS can give up to 5 kW of continuous power and 8.5 kW of surge power to start motors. It provides power inversion from AC to DC and back. 14 to 42 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity can be stored in one to three battery cabinets.

Lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells are used in the battery cabinets in the Power Center, and according to Duracell, they may be cycled up to 6,000 times without losing more than 70% of their initial capacity. That’s over 15 years of designed life with daily charging cycles. LFP batteries are quickly replacing lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) batteries in batteries like the Tesla Powerwall and Generac PWRcell as the favored option among Australian households since the technology is safer and more environmentally friendly.

You need the space to do this because, as seen in the image above, the Power Center’s components must be mounted on a wall. The installation’s smallest footprint measures 43.3″ wide, 22.5″ tall, and 15.7″ deep for a single battery, whereas it measures 88.3″ broad when three battery cabinets are used. The PCS module weighs 145 pounds, while each battery cabinet weighs 223 pounds. These are pretty heavy batteries.

Coupling AC:

The Duracell Power Center is an AC-coupled battery that, with the help of the system’s built-in power inverter, can be charged by AC power and discharged back into the house. In a home without solar, the Duracell Power Center may now charge from the grid or connect to an existing solar installation.

How to use the Power Center to save money:

The Power Center’s most useful function, for many users, is to shield you from high energy prices during a Time of Use (TOU) rate plan’s daily peak hours. Solar power can be used to power the Power Center during the day, and some of that energy can then be used to power appliances in the evening when electricity prices are higher. The ordinary household may save hundreds of dollars a year by doing this and still have backup power accessible during a power outage. Currently, it is unlikely that the cost savings from avoiding peak charges will be sufficient to cover the battery’s purchase price. Ask your installer to set up the battery for load-shifting functionality during peak time if you live in a location with a TOU bill.

Duracell Solar Battery's Significant details:

The Power Center has an operational temperature range of 32° to 122° F (0° to 50° C) and is approved for outdoor usage. It also has an enclosure that shields it from rain and snow. If you live in the Midwest or the Northeast of the United States, be advised that this means it cannot be mounted outdoors in very cold climates.

Performance-wise, the PCS can deliver 5 kW of continuous power at 20.8 amps into 240 volts. It has a 5-second surge capacity of 8.5 kW. Up to 6 kW can be released for 30 minutes when using two battery cabinets.

The round-trip efficiency, which determines how much useful energy the battery can output based on the energy stored inside it, is the last significant criterion. With a round trip efficiency of 85.7%, the Power Center converts every 10 kWh of input electricity into 8.57 kWh of useful AC electricity. When compared to other batteries on the market, this is on the lower end. Batteries from Sonnen are a little less efficient than those from LG, Generac, Tesla, and other manufacturers, but their products have 90% or better round-trip efficiency.

Warranty:

A 15-year warranty on the power electronics and a 10-year warranty on the battery capacity is provided with the Power Center solar storage solution. Power Center warrants that the battery will be free of flaws for 15 years and maintain at least 70% of its original capacity for the duration of the 10-year warranty, or they will replace or repair any parts that are malfunctioning.

The battery is still intended to endure for at least 15 years since, according to the manufacturer, it should be able to fully cycle 6,000 times before hitting the 70% capacity limit. The batteries should function flawlessly, and the power electronics are covered, however, after the first ten years, they will no longer cover faults. That is a strong warranty for a durable product.

Does the Power Center offer backup for the entire house?

The quick, simple response to this query is “no.” The phrase “whole home backup” suggests that the battery would power all of the home’s appliances in the event of a grid failure. In order to accomplish that, a backup system must be able to generate surge current, which can start equipment like air conditioners while also running other ones. In that case, the house would require a sizable battery, an extremely potent inverter, and some sort of load management system to keep it from using excessive amounts of power at once.

Both the Duracell Power Center and the majority of other household batteries on the market are not made to do that. Instead, “critical loads,” which include necessities like lights, refrigerators, water heaters, and a few outlets for small appliances, can be powered by batteries like the Power Center.

In a power outage, the important loads in a typical home backup installation would consume around 9.5 kWh daily. Therefore, the 14 kWh Power battery could power the house for longer than a day, and the 42 kWh installation with three cabinets could power the essential appliances in your house for up to four days.

Can you go off-grid?

The Duracell Power Center is not intended for usage in an off-grid environment, much like how whole-home backup was discussed above. A large solar installation that can generate enough electricity for at least a full day even on the darkest, least-sunny day of the year is required for an off-grid system to function properly in the home.

Off-grid solutions also require extra battery capacity and, in emergency situations, backup fossil fuel generators. The Duracell Power Center, as we previously mentioned, is intended to function as backup power in a grid-tied application or to execute daily cycling to power the home during periods of high demand under time-of-use billing.

Price and accessibility:

There isn’t much pricing information for the Power Center because it’s new on the market. As the units begin to arrive at solar installation businesses, we’ll learn more. Suppose the Power Center can be placed at the low end of that pricing range. In that case, it will be competitive with batteries with similar capabilities and storage capacity, costing between $11,000 and $15,000.

In addition to the federal clean energy tax credit, many states also offer incentives for home batteries. These discounts can lower the price of a battery by several thousand dollars. Some utilities even provide ongoing programs that allow battery owners to receive monthly payments in exchange for contributing some of their battery capacity to the grid.

These batteries should be widely available in the United States and Puerto Rico, but especially in the southwest, northeast, and Hawaii, given the promise of at least 10,000 units during the following three years.

Final :

If you already have solar panels installed, the Duracell solar battery is a great option because it can be charged by any solar inverter that is currently in place. If you simply want to avoid paying for peak energy hours and have a little additional backup power in case of an outage, it’s the best choice.

The battery performance is good enough with the best technology and guaranteed is well protected. You may be sure you’re receiving a quality product that will last you for a decade or more if the solar installation you’ve chosen sells the battery at a reasonable price.I
