How does Solar Energy Converted into Electricity

Solar panels are some kind of devices that are made to absorb sun rays and convert them into electricity. This procedure is conducted upon photovoltaic effect. Photovoltaic cells are used to make solar panels. Solar Panels continue the conversion of the sun’s energy till the sunlight hits their surface. But this direct electricity can’t be used to run home appliances, to serve this purpose inverter is used which convert the direct current into alternating current. Alternating current is the current which is generally used in houses to run home appliances like TV, Refrigerator, Oven, AC, etc.

Types of Solar panel

Basically, we can find three types of Solar panels in the solar panel market.

  • Monocrystalline,
  • Polycrystalline and
  • Thin-film solar panels
  • All these three types are different from each other by their manufacturing structure and their look as well. Let’s have a broad discussion about each type

Monocrystalline:

Monocrystalline: This is the very first type of solar panel. These solar panels are made of approximately 42 solar cells, which are made of silicon. These silicon cells are black color comes with various color back sheets and frames.  These solar cells of the solar panels are square-shaped with round corners; they are connected with each other horizontally and vertically. There seems to be a tiny gap between every connection. These solar panels have the highest efficiency in terms of producing electricity. It can reach more than 22% of efficiency. So as a result it is also the most costly solar panel. As because manufacturing solar panels with silicon would count you more money, besides the frames has to be more strong and heavier, which means you have to spend more money for the installation.

Polycrystalline:

Though polycrystalline solar panels are not as efficient and popular as Monocrystalline solar panels we must say they are not so far behind in the race. As the popularity and efficiency of polycrystalline solar panels are increasing rapidly.  Unlike Monocrystalline these solar panels are not made of pure silicon, though it is made of silicon there is crystal also. Basically, these solar panels are made of melted silicon and crystal at a time. These cells’ color is blue, the basic color of the back sheet and frames with these solar panels is silver, but there is an option for variety also. This is not so old development and efficiency is up to 17% of these solar panels. Its production cost is less than Monocrystalline and installation cost is less as well

Thin-film-solar-panel

Thin-film solar panels:

This type of solar panel is the newest of all.  The main fact that makes it totally different from the other types is it is not always made of silicon. It can be made of different materials like cadmium telluride (CdTe), amorphous silicon (a-Si), and Copper Indium Gallium Selenide (CIGS). Because of its manufacturing materials, this is the cheapest solar panel in the market, moreover, the installation cost is also the lowest because of its lightweight framing. This is also the thinnest solar panel that comes in blue or black color.

Solar panel advantages /benefits of solar energy to the environment

By installing solar panels in houses people can fight against harmful greenhouse gases. The electricity we get from the solar plan is clean.  The amount of power, produced from solar panels is enough to meet our daily need for electricity.

It also generates more power during summer days which can be feedback to the electrical grid with the exchange of money. And in cloudy weather also it is able to produce some quantity of electricity.

A solar energy system is able to produce much of the energy of your daily needs. This can help to balance the amount of energy you need to buy from a utility company.

Moreover, if you have a check on your usage, then the solar panel would be able to produce more energy than your need and allow making you money through the send-in tariff process.

No maintenance cost as you would get at least 25 years of warranty for the panels by any solar company.

This energy is also green and clean, it reduces your carbon footprints as well.  It helps you combat the natural threat and greenhouse gas as well.

The source is also unlimited and absolutely free for you.
